Meet the Georgetown Peer Educators 

Tara just finished her Undergraduate degree with a Medial in Psychology and French. She is passionate about health and education, with a particular interest in mental and global health. After spending the year fundraising and learning about Guyana, she is excited to finally make it to Georgetown! She is looking forward to taking part in peer to peer education, making some connections in the community, and for all of the unknowns that the following 7 weeks will bring! 











Britney has just finished her fourth year at Queen’s and will be receiving an honours degree in Life Sciences in the fall. She is hoping to continue her studies in the healthcare field and become a registered diagnostic sonographer. This year she worked in a mental health clinic in Kingston, Canada. She has a passionate about mental health and is excited to share all the knowledge she gained with the students of Georgetown. She is excited to meet all the students and engage in thoughtful conversations about all aspects of health. She cannot wait to start her initiative in Georgetown!








Gwendolyn just finished her first year in Honours Science at Queen’s, where she hopes to pursue a specialization in cardiorespiratory science. She loves hearts and space, along with compassion-based care and education in all of its forms!! Gwendolyn is so grateful for QHO and all of the opportunities for learning she has had through this incredible organization throughout the year. She can’t wait to get into classrooms alongside her teaching partners – Britney, Hannah, and Tara – who inspire her every day with their motivation and passion for health. Gwen is eager to go on initiative, is thankful for every single person involved in making this initiative a success, for Shannen and Megan for their hard work that knows no bounds in training us, and she can’t wait to meet all of the wonderful people in Guyana.



Hannah has just completed her third year at Queen’s studying Kinesiology. Her love of sport and healthy active living has inspired her to want to pursue a career in physiotherapy in the future. This same passion also sparked her interest in applying to QHO, as the values of the organization are important aspects in her everyday life. Hannah cannot wait to spend 7 weeks in Georgetown facilitating discussions involving mental, physical and sexual health in the classroom. She hopes to instill an appreciation for health and wellness in her peers by incorporating all that she has learned throughout her undergrad degree. Hannah is anxious to begin this incredible experience alongside her remarkable fellow peer educators!

Meet the Berbice Peer Educators

Liz B is a recent graduate of the Queen’s Kinesiology program, and is hoping to pursue a career in health care. Her studies in Kinesiology have allowed her to explore the multidimensional nature of health and she is excited to share her passion for this field with others! Liz B will be in Berbice for the duration of initiative and is excited to start conversations about many important health topics with students in this community. After spending the year learning and preparing for initiative, Liz can’t wait to get started and see what the next 7 weeks have in store!







Hailey just finished her first year studying sciences and is hoping to pursue medicine in the future. Hailey is very excited to use the knowledge and training from the past year to start conversations about health alongside the group of peer educators she has become so close to. She is also looking forward to executing lessons that will encourage youth to make informed choices regarding their mental, sexual and physical health. Hailey is eager to be immersed in the unique Guyanese culture, as well as learn from the community she will be staying in!









Delaney just graduate from Queen’s University with a major in Life Science and a minor in Health Studies. She plans on continuing her education in Nursing. She is beyond excited to work with her QHO team and promote health in Berbice, Guyana. After a year of training she is looking forward to meeting all the students and sharing experiences. She hopes to use her knowledge from her degree and working in an HIV/AIDS clinic to engage stigma-reducing discussions with students. 

Nick has just finished his third year at Queen’s University, where he is studying Philosophy. He is especially interested in ethics, where he can apply moral theory to his everyday life. Knowledge is an important part of his philosophical studies, and is why Queen’s Health Outreach became of interest to him. In one’s life there are very few things one is able to control, however, the more knowledge one obtains, the more control one may have. Given this, being a part of QHO’s dedication to facilitate health discussions in classrooms became an enticing opportunity. Nick is passionate about education, and is excited to learn as much as he can about Guyana and about its culture. Nick is patiently anticipating his time in Guyana, and is excited to see what he and his fellow Peer Educators can contribute in classroom discussions and community based health activities!

Ciara has just graduated from her fourth year at Queen’s University from the Life Sciences program and she aspires to work in healthcare. She is super excited to promote health in Berbice, Guyana for the next seven weeks! She can’t wait to work with the youth there and have open discussions about mental, physical, and sexual health. She looks forward to learning about the people and the culture of Guyana. Ciara can't wait to start teaching in the Berbice classrooms with her fellow peer educators, and to share her passion for youth, health and education!  

Elizabeth has just completed her second year in Kinesiology and couldn’t be more excited for initiative! She is passionate about sciences and the promotion of proper health, and she has immersed herself in many clubs at Queen’s to enhance information she learns in classroom. Elizabeth is eager to intergrade what she has learned from QHO, as well as through her own experience and to facilitate interesting conversations with different students. She will be in the Berbice area along with 5 other amazing individuals and is ready to see what the next 7 weeks have in store.
